Anam Cré is a pottery studio in San Luis Obispo that provides a stimulating and supportive atmosphere for anybody interested in clay, whether an absolute beginner or an advanced potter or sculptor. We teach children and adults. People join together to create in clay. We have 6 wheels, a slab roller, a fine collection of texture molds and two very hard working kilns!

Owner & Instructor
Shevon has been teaching pottery classes to the San Luis Obispo community for 31 years. In 1999 she opened Anam Cré Pottery Studio. The name is Gaelic and means "the spirit or soul of the clay." Over the years, she has coordinated the Empty Bowls Throw Fest benefiting the Food Bank, the Live Oak Music Festival children's programs benefiting public radio and various programs that involve children and art. Her students consist of adults all the way up to 91 and children as young as 3. Her passion is working with kids who are underprivileged or with hurt backgrounds. Local community schools send students to Anam Cré as well as mental health and group homes. Shevon herself throws pots, her medium is mid-range high fire and raku.
Anam Cré is proud to have Stephanie as its most experienced instructor. Stephanie inspires precision and beauty in her student's work. As an artist, Stephanie infuses her own pieces with serene functionality and graceful practicality. She specializes in high fire porcelin and hand-painted detail.
